Open Access Journal Index-OAJ

Open Access Journal Index (OAJ) is an academic service platform developed by the Joint Laboratory for Open Access Resource Evaluation, a collaborative initiative between the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China Educational Publications Import & Export Corporation. Rooted in China’s open science practices and aligned with international scholarly evaluation criteria, OAJ employs a dual approach combining expert review and data analytics to assess applicant journals. The evaluation encompasses multiple dimensions, including academic quality, publishing standards, open access policies, research integrity, and societal impact. OAJ aims to identify and showcase high-quality, fully open access journals across all disciplines worldwide, fostering transparency and trust in global scholarly communication.

Through its "application-review" access mechanism, OAJ now covers all disciplinary fields, including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities, establishing an authoritative and inclusive open-access journal resources repository. As a key component of China's open science infrastructure, OAJ is committed to fostering an open, equitable, and high-quality academic exchange environment. It provides researchers, research management institutions, and the publishing community with a trusted reference for open-access journals, facilitating the global co-construction and sharing of academic resources.
